Performs smart hands functions in client owned data center
1 Position: Data Center Hands & Eyes Support Admin
2 Shift Hours: 3 /4 Night work week. 12.5 hour shift: 7pm to 7:30am - Sunday/ Monday / Tuesday nights (Every other Saturday night : 7pm to 7:30am )
3 Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 20 lbs , ability to work in environment alone.
4 Hands & Eyes Support: Must be able to provide hands and eyes support for IBM/HP Servers, Storage devices which are stored in racks within Data Center. Be able to take calls and receive email request from various IT support teams requesting, power off/on servers, check front and back of equipments in racks, cable request, viewing request, shipping and receiving of various parts from all 3rd party vendors. Provide escort access to equipment within the Data Center for hardware technicians. (ex. HP, IBM, NCE, Network techs, etc).
5 Tape Media Handling: Ensure that any media handling tasks are executed in a timely fashion, which includes ejecting/loading tapes from Silos, preparing tapes for shipment to offsite facility. Ensure sufficient scratch media is available to support the nightly batch cycle. Engage hardware vendors when tape silos need to be repaired.
6 Work/Assist Offshore Team: On occasion work with offshore teams to ensure that systems and backup performance and events are being continually monitored through a shift and that any problematic events are handled in such a way as to preserve service at the highest possible level. Use Tivoli Workload scheduler and Tivoli Tec to monitor the batch environment. Use Legato Networker to monitor the backup environment. Offshore team will monitor TWS Maestro scheduling tool and report any batch job failures to the offshore team, the offshore team will contact required application support team
7 Escalation: Ensure any Data Center alarms/alerts are investigated and reported to the appropriate escalation contacts (including suppliers) in a timely manner. This includes notification to onsite security teams, HP Management staff, client Management staff for every abnormal event.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent; may hold 2 year post-high school Degree (technical field).
May hold entry level or intermediate level certification(s) in field of work.
Typically, 6
years of working experience in related field.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
