Clusters/outbreaks of infectious diseases are investigated and control measures instituted to prevent the spread of further infection.
Infection prevention staff facilitate and participate in multiple quality improvement processes and provide expertise to multiple forums (product value analysis, disinfection of medical equipment).
Travel to HHC ambulatory sites is necessary to complete role successfully.
The Infection Prevention Manager is responsible for maintaining a robust and measurable Infection Prevention program in the hospital(s) and healthcare entities in the Fairfield Region.
The manager is an Infection prevention expert across the region across the system.

Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:
Collaborates with the unit and institutional leadership to evaluate, develop, implement and monitor infection prevention best practice policies, protocols, procedures and guidelines Responsible for ensuring there is survey preparation and readiness Act as the point of contact for all Infection prevention concerns in the region Develops and implements a systematic plan for ongoing infection surveillance.
According to risk assessment and infection prevention plan, implements infection surveillance activities.
Utilize CDC/NHSN defined criteria for surveillance utilizing data collected from various sources i.
e.
, laboratory, patient records, autopsy findings, post-discharge surveillance.
Serves as a resource to the Occupational Health Program for infection prevention issues Perform performance evaluations, counseling and recognitions for all assigned colleague Collaborate with other regional leaders in the system to promote and ensure standardization in best practices.
Reports routinely on results of prevention and surveillance activities, including, but not limited to, hospital-acquired infections report, results of designated environmental cultures, current problems/issues/investigations, special projects related to infection prevention issues, and follow-up on previous recommendations.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelors of science Degree in Nursing, Microbiology or Public Health required
Experience:
Broad knowledge base in Epidemiology or Occupational Health, statistics and microbiology Minimum of two (5) years of experience in a healthcare related field We take great care of careers.
